Custom Framing

I worked over 6 years as Custom Framing Designer at Micheal’s Craft Store helping make unique pieces for customers. From stretching canvases to mounting sports jerseys, I have acquired a vast set of design, assembly, marketing, and customer service skills during my time there. No two pieces are the same, just as every individual has their own taste and style. Adaptability is a key component of this job as we are often met with new challenges.

Since we are responsible for the care of these pieces, being able to accurately convey the framing process when questions occur is crucial. Often times people will bring in sentimental pieces and be understandably cautious about how we will handle their artwork. Explaining your knowledge in a confident but empathetic manner is a quick and easy way to building rapport. Connecting with customer over their piece also helps create a bond and establish common ground, letting them know that you are invested. Everyone has a story to tell and these pieces are a part of their stories and memories.
